Years of experience spanning investments, operations and sustainability
Ngatia is one of the foremost proponents of driving Africa’s development through the power of capital markets. As the Founder and Managing Director of Spearhead Africa, Ngatia has led the efforts for channeling institutional capital into Alternatives across East Africa.
He has extensive experience from large financial institutions in New York, London and Nairobi and prior to founding Spearhead Africa, Ngatia was an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs in London. During his career Ngatia has been responsible for leading financing and public market investment transactions valued at over USD 5 billion.
Ngatia is the founding CEO of the Kenya Pension Funds Investment Consortium (KEPFIC), a consortium of Kenyan pension funds from both the private and public sector who have come together to jointly assess and invest in alternative asset opportunities in the East African region. Ngatia is a graduate of Vanderbilt University where he received his MBA (Finance and Investment specialization). He received a Bachelor of Science in International Business Administration (Honors) from the United States International University in Nairobi and is a 2019 Obama Foundation Africa Leader.
Anshul is a Climate & Sustainability driven investor with focus on Alternatives in emerging markets. Over the past 20 years, he has built a track record of delivering consistent and competitive returns to investors – having conceived and managed innovative investment solutions, specifically tailored to unique conditions of these markets.
During his career, Anshul has invested more than $1b in 30+ companies – covering a range of asset classes, specifically infrastructure, private credit, private equity and real estate/ REITs. These investments span Renewables, Power, Transportation, Telecom / Digital Infrastructure, Utilities, Healthcare and Affordable Housing. Anshul has worked with a broad range of institutional investors including pensions funds, SWFs, DFIs and family offices. He has had extensive involvement in fund structuring, capital raising, due diligence and legal documentation for funds.
Anshul is the Founder & CEO of the Nigeria Infrastructure Debt Fund – Africa’s and Nigeria’s first and only listed infrastructure fund focused on private debt investments. He conceptualised NIDF in 2014 and, over the next 6 years, invested c. $350 million in infrastructure & climate finance transactions, delivering an IRR of c. 18% to investors. Recently, Anshul also led the creation of Africa’s first blended finance investment vehicle to support distributed clean energy projects. It is supported by top global impact investors.
Daisey has significant experience in structured finance and infrastructure transaction advisory, having previously worked with Standard Chartered Bank and Metropol credit reference bureau.
At Spearhead, she has had extensive engagement with pension funds, project sponsors, banks and DFIs on mobilisation of institutional capital into infrastructure and sustainable development, with a focus on investment structuring and deal process management.
Daisy holds a graduate degree in Financial Economics from Strathmore University, Nairobi and an MSc in Economics and Finance from University of Leeds.
Njiru is a finance and investment professional with over 12 years’ experience in investments, corporate finance, strategy and business operations across diverse industries.
Prior to joining Spearhead, Njiru was the head of financial planning & analysis at Lake Turkana Wind Power – Africa’s largest operational wind farm. Earlier, he was part of KPMG East Africa’s deal advisory & financing team we he advised clients on financial planning and capital mobilization for projects in industries such as infrastructure, renewable energy, transportation and manufacturing.
Njiru holds a BSc. degree from Maseno University and MBA from University of Nairobi with specialization in strategic management.
Sheena has over six years’ experience in investment research and financial analysis, gained in buy-side analyst and portfolio management roles at Britam and STANLIB, two leading asset manager operating in Kenya. Through her work, Sheena has gained significant experience in financial modeling and investment opportunity/business analysis, asset allocation and development of investment strategies. She holds a bachelor degree in international business administration from US International University of Africa, Nairobi.
Sudhi is a seasoned professional with global experience in integrating climate, environmental and social factors into investment decisions and business processes. During his 20+ year association with the World Bank / IFC, Sudhi has led and managed design and implementation of Environmental & Social Management Systems for numerous industries/projects, with scale ranging from micro and small to multi-billion dollar investments. Sudhi holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering as well as an MBA in Finance from NYU Stern School of Business.
